Meet the Team
At Curlew Country we have a small but dynamic team of dedicated contractors and volunteers. Every member of our team is committed to the conservation of Eurasian curlew in the Shropshire Hills and Welsh Marches




Amanda Perkins
Amanda heads up Curlew Country, responsible for design, liaison, strategy, obtaining funding and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
Amber Bicheno
Amber is our Lead Aviculturist, responsible for overseeing the headstarting project, from incubating eggs to chicks in the pens, as well as managing outreach to volunteers and the wider community.
John (JP) Brayford
JP is our Land Use Facilitator, responsible for working with the Farmers Groups and Facilitation Fund. JP has been working closely with farmers to arrive at mutually beneficial arrangements to benefit curlew and farm businesses.
Tony Cross
Tony is our Consultant Ornithologist, responsible for conducting our field work, collecting eggs, monitoring curlew pairs and ringing as much as possible.




Tim Lewis
Tim is our Assistant Ornithologist, responsible for assisting Tony and setting up and maintaining the electric fences that protect our precious wild nests, including Curlew Cam.
Katie Loyd
Katie is our Assistant Aviculturist, responsible for maintaining the welfare of our headstarted curlew, making sure they are happy and healthy from egg to fledge.
