Giant Curlew Spotted on World Curlew Day

A trip through the local hills of the Curlew Country area may see you pulling in to the Stiperstones Inn for some well earned refreshments, but beware… sightings of a giant 6 foot Curlew roaming the car park have been coming in thick and fast. If you catch a glimpse, we would love to see your photos!

A teacher at her local school, with the help of students this larger than life Curlew started it’s journey last year. Originally planned to be part of fundraising efforts from the school, Covid-19 put a pause on the artistic efforts and only recently has the finished product made it’s first outing.

Luckily for us it’s just in time for World Curlew Day!

The magnificent beast is made primarily of cardboard and wire, an excellent way to use recycled and salvaged materials. The Curlew will remain at the pub for the rest of World Curlew Day, but we may see it pop up in other locations in the future, so stay tuned!

We would like to send out a huge thank you to Pam and her class for their marvelous efforts, and their continued support for Curlew and Curlew Country.
